On October 10, Master Tran Thanh Hai, Principal of Vien Dong College, had a working trip with the Board of Directors of Valdosta University, Georgia, USA.

At the meeting, Master Tran Thanh Hai and Dr. Richard Carvajal, President of Valdosta University signed an extension of the 2+2 training program for another 5 years from November 1, 2021, witnessed by Academic Director Robert Smith.

Vien Dong College is the first college in Vietnam to be licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training to implement a joint program with a public university in the US since August 29, 2012.

Valdosta University has also agreed to grant 10 scholarships with a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the entire course for international students from Vien Dong College in the 2021-2022 school year (tuition fee is 800 USD/credit).

Students participating in the program can choose from many forms of study depending on their family’s ability and finances such as: Program 1+3: 1 year of study at Vien Dong College + 3 years of study at Valdosta University; Program 2+2: 2 years of study at Vien Dong College + 2 years of study at Valdosta University; Program 0+4: Study 4 years at Valdosta University. All courses at Vien Dong College are recognized by Valdosta University as official subjects in the training program of Valdosta University.

From the 2021-2022 school year, in addition to the majors that have been linked since 2012 such as: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance – Banking, English, the program has also been expanded to include majors in Information Technology, Technology and Nursing.

In particular, the school has also worked with Georgia Tech University – top 20 universities in the US such as MIT, Harvard… to jointly train Engineering Technology majors for international students of Vien Dong College.

According to Master Tran Thanh Hai, during this working trip, the school also visited the international students of Vien Dong College who are studying in a joint program at Valdosta University. At the same time, the school also held an online meeting connecting Vietnam and the US so that parents and new students of the US study abroad scholarship program for the 2021-2022 school year could witness the signing ceremony and exchange information with the Board of Directors of the two schools and the international students.

Through the online meeting, parents and new students clearly understood the information about the study program, saw the learning facilities, dormitories and understood the study program to feel secure in sending their students to participate in this program. In February 2022, the new students will go to the US to continue their studies.

Vien Dong College was established on January 17, 2007 under the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training, and then continued to be built based on the stimulus capital of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
